Pawn Loans
A pawn loan is one of the fastest ways to get cash without selling your belongings.
What exactly is a pawn loan?
A pawn loan is a short-term collateral loan. Bring in an item of value, we evaluate it and offer you cash. You keep a loan ticket and reclaim your item when you repay. No credit impact if you choose not to return.
Do I need a credit check?
No. Pawn loans require no credit check and have no impact on your credit score. The loan is secured by the item itself.
What are your loan terms?
Our standard loan term is 30 days at a 4.5% monthly fee. You can extend by paying the fee if you need more time.
What do I need to bring?
A valid government-issued photo ID is required. Bring your item in its current condition, no appointment needed.
Is the process confidential?
Completely. All transactions are private. We do not share your information with third parties.
What if I cannot repay?
If you choose not to repay, the loan lapses and there is no further obligation. Your credit is never affected.
Can I extend my loan?
Yes. Pay the monthly fee at any point during your loan term and we extend it another 30 days.

Do I need an appointment for jewelry repair?
No appointment needed. Walk in to any location and our team will assess your piece and provide a clear timeline and price before any work begins.
How long does jewelry repair take?
Simple repairs like ring resizing can often be done same day or next day. Complex restorations take longer. We give you an honest timeline upfront.
What is diamond testing?
We use Yehuda instruments to identify natural versus lab-grown diamonds and detect clarity enhancements or treatments. Useful when buying, selling, or pawning a diamond piece.
What is Entrupy authentication?
Entrupy uses AI and microscopic imaging to authenticate luxury handbags. We issue a certificate of authenticity accepted for buy, sell, and pawn transactions.
Which brands do you authenticate?
Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, Prada, Goyard, Hermes, and other major luxury brands. Ask our team if you are unsure about a specific brand.
Layaway
Our layaway program lets you take home what you love by paying over time, no interest, no credit check.
How does layaway work?
Choose an item in our showroom, pay 10% down to hold it, then make one payment per month until paid in full. Once complete, the item is yours. No interest ever.
Is there a minimum item value?
Minimums may vary by location. Ask our team when you visit.
Can I pay through the app?
Yes. The MobilePawn app lets you track your balance and make monthly payments without visiting the store.
What if I miss a payment?
Contact your nearest location and we will work with you. We want you to get your item.
Can I cancel a layaway?
Yes. If you cancel we refund payments made minus a small restocking fee. Ask our team for details.

What is the MobilePawn app?
MobilePawn is a free app by Bravo, the platform we use to manage our stores. It connects directly to your account at any Rich & Son location.
What can I do in the app?
View loan balances and payoff amounts, track layaway payments, see photos and weight records of your item in real time, message any store location, and browse inventory.
Is the app free?
Yes. Completely free to download and use on iOS and Android.
How do I set up an account?
Download the app and create an account, or ask our team at any location. They can set it up in minutes during your visit.
Is my information secure?
Yes. The app uses encrypted connections and your data is protected under Bravo’s privacy standards.

Our layaway program lets you take home what you love by paying over time, no interest, no credit check.
Where are your locations?
Belleville (163 Washington Ave), Newark (857 Broad St), North Plainfield (579 US-22), Union (1000 Stuyvesant Ave), and Union City (4513 Bergenline Ave).
Are you open on Sundays?
Yes, Union City is the only location open Sundays, 11AM to 4PM. All other locations are open Monday through Saturday.
Do I need an appointment?
Never. All five locations are walk-in. Bring your item and a valid photo ID.
How long have you been in business?
We were founded in 1890 by William S. Rich on Broad Street in Newark. Over 130 years serving New Jersey across five locations.
What payment methods do you accept?
We offer cash for all buy and pawn transactions. Layaway payments can be made in store or through the MobilePawn app.
Is there parking at your locations?
Parking availability varies by location. We recommend checking Google Maps for each store for the most current information.
